We will also be giving out the final information for the annual Tolling of the Boats ceremony, slated for Saturday, August 20. The ceremony will be held at the waterfront park in Kirkland's Marina. Pre-event social time starts at 11 AM, followed by a picnic, with the ceremony starting at 1 PM. We will be honoring the lost shipmates and submarines who gave their all. We hope you will be there. We still need volunteers to help set up in the area at 10 AM.
Also, we are happy to announce that the company making the submarine cutaway plaque the Base is raffling off is adding the Sturgeon Class (short hull) to the list of available plaques and that the new class plaque will be available in October 2011. This means all you ‘637’ swabs can enter the base raffle and get a cutaway of your boat when you win. Tickets are $ 5.00 each, and the drawing will be held at the Tolling Ceremony. You do not have to be present to win. So, be sure to get you tickets at this Wednesday's meeting or contact Jim Harper directly.
I hope to see you at the meeting and Tolling ceremony
Fraternally,
Keith Watson
Commander Seattle Base USSVI
