The May-June 2010 issue of the Dolphin Brotherhood has been posted on the Seattle Base website.

This issue has articles on the dedication of the 52 Boats Memorial in San Diego and the memorial service for USS Thresher; along with the usual base news/events and other submarine related articles.

Mailed copies of the newsletter should go out early next week.

April Meeting

Our monthly meeting was on April 21, where we had a  chance to celebrate the 110th Anniversary of US Navy Submarine Service, with memorabilia provided by our members and a cake.

Base Commander Keith Watson did a nice job picking out the cake.

We'll be sending out reminders for upcoming events, including the Armed Forces Day Parade and Memorial Day services, in May.

Lois Mezek wanted to remind us that she is collecting throw blankets for wounded troops in Afghanistan. If you have some blankets you would like to donate, contact Lois (or any of the base officers)for more information on how to get them to her.

The program was a presentation on early post-World War II submarines and the USS Albacore.

The monthly meetings are always a good chance to catch up with shipmates, retell sea stories, and make up new ones. We hope to see you at the next meeting!

Coming Soon!

Welcome to the new Seattle Base Blog.

The plans are to use this blog as a supplement to the base Newsletter to keep Seattle Base members (and other interested people) informed of upcoming meetings, events, and other submarine news.

The blog format isn't completely set, so expect to see a few more changes to the blog (I'd like to add a picture behind the banner).

The first real entry for the blog will be coming soon.
