February 2018 Meeting Notes

We only had a short business meeting, with the rest of the evening focusing on some social time to thank the ladies for the support they give us as submarine veterans all year long and year after year.
Roses and cards for the social time
We kicked off the meeting with Tolling the Boats lost in February, followed by birthday wishes for our members, and introductions. We followed that up with the Officer Reports, introductions, and then our business items.

Old and New Business:
Cabela’s Tulalip Event – We will have the base float at the Cabela’s Tulalip store on March 17 – 18. This will be a combination of showing off to the public, trying to find new members, and fund raising for the base. We are looking for volunteers to help man the table and talk with people at the store.

Smokey Point Rest Stop Event – We will be manning the coffee booth at the north-bound Smokey Point rest stop on June 1 – 4. Steve Shelton will start bringing in the sign-up sheets at the March meeting. We hope you’ll take some time to help out with this important fund-raising event. The state has dropped the requirements for manning the booth from midnight until 5 am. We will have further information at upcoming meetings and on the blog.

2018 Holiday Luncheon – The 2018 Seattle Base Holiday Luncheon is set for Saturday, December 8. This year the lunch will be at the Nile Shrine Center (6601 244th St. SW Mountlake Terrace, WA). The estimated cost will be $25 per person. Be sure to mark it on your calendars now!

2018 Activities Calendar – The 2018 Seattle Base Activities Calendar has been updated, but we looking for additional things to do as a base in 2018. If you have suggestions for something, please bring it up at the next meeting or contact one of the officers.

2018 USSVI National Convention – The 2018 National Convention is a Caribbean cruise on October 21 – 28, departing from Fort Lauderdale, FL. Be sure to check the convention website for more details, including the list of boat reunions.

Social Time:
We had roses and Valentines cards for all the ladies, along with decorations, cake, ice cream, and the usual refreshments.

Everyone had a chance to fill out a card and present a rose before refreshments were served.

February Meeting Theme

Shipmates,

A theme for our February meeting was discussed by the Base Executive Board (E-Board) and it was agreed that the focus for our February meeting will be the ladies of the base. A belated Valentines special to celebrate these ladies and their support for their submariners.
We’d like to get as many folks as possible to come to the meeting on February 21st and make sure to bring that special lady in your life with you. Lets make this a big and wonderful time for them and all of us. So, if you haven’t been to a meeting for a while, please come out for this one. Grab your Sweetheart and join the celebration.
