Eternal Patrol: Wes Hogan

Base member Don Ulmer passed along the following sad news.

Shipmates,

At our last meeting, Bill Hogan, son of Bonefish's commissioning skipper Capt T. W. Hogan, presented a scrap book on his Dad that had been assembled by Bill and older brother Wes. Wes, in advanced stages of Muscular Dystrophy Atrophy, also attended, but in a wheel chair. Wes passed away Monday morning, 29 November.

In the final days, Wes's mind remained acute, vision and hearing perfect, but his muscular functions deteriorated completely. Near the end, he could barley signal yes and no with eye blinks.

It is fitting that the final big event of Wes's life was to hear his scrap book presented to an audience of appreciative submariners, particularly those who assemble in the name of Bonefish, his Dad's ship. I know Wes heard the applause for his work and appreciated the many who came by and spoke to him following the talk.

Bill Hogan has generously offered to loan his Dad's memorabilia for display at the Christmas luncheon. I will see to this.

Please hold the family Hogan in your thoughts.

The life of Wes Hogan will be celebrated 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 7 at Washington Cathedral, 12300 Woodinville-Redmond Rd NE
