Eternal Patrol: Fred Ensslin

World War II veteran, Holland Club, and Seattle Base member, Fred Ensslin departed on eternal patrol on April 24, 2019.
Frederick Victor Ensslin was born on February 3, 1924 in Buffalo, New York.

Fred served aboard seven submarines during World War II. He qualified in submarines aboard USS O-10 (SS-71) in 1941. He was a plankowner aboard USS Greenling (SS-213) making 2 war patrols, USS Sawfish (SS-276) (2 war patrols), USS Snook (SS-279) (2 war patrols), USS S-17 (SS-122), USS Marlin (SS-205), USS Cabezon (SS-334) (plankowner and 1 war patrol).

Fred was a GM1(SS) when he mustered out in December 1946.

Update: There will be an internment service for Fred on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 10:30 am at Tahoma National Cemetery. If you are planning on attending, please wear you Submarine Veteran vest.
